Current Vision
Our organization has been growing and growing. The three main concerns identified in our early November ‘99 survey from the Isla Vista residents were Food for Families, Education for their children, and Physical and Emotional Health Programs that can alleviate some of their vulnerability from lack of health insurance.
We are thankful to our Lord and Master Jesus Christ that the programs we have been able to initiate are making a profound difference. Even though we are meeting some of these needs, it is still a weekly challenge to fund them.
To maintain our ongoing ministries it requires $6,100 per month. Currently our income is averaging $5,200 per month. Clearly a great deal is being accomplished yet we do have this shortfall of $900 per month. Yet even with such the SBCDC Board felt that we must go ahead with the new Girls of Purpose program described above.
In addition to financial support, partnering with “Gifts in Kind” can be readily used. This includes such as healthy snacks and school supplies of pencils and paper for the Tutoring Center.
As described above, the Food for Angels and the Tutoring Center can use extra hands to minister directly to the young and old of our community who can use a bit of support.
These are the current pressing demands upon the SBCDC Ministries yet there are still unanswered calls for help and support with willing partners in the area of health administration and service and in family counseling. We are bursting with local pressure to supply such aid and are actively seeking partners with whom we can answer such constant requests.
